SCOUTING
FOR FOOD
The Scouting for Food Drive will be from March 5 to
12. Food will be collected at our March 12th meeting,
in
St. Raymond School Gym. The food will help those less fortunate in our
area. Howie Ryder is heading up our District's effort.
DEPOSIT
BOTTLES & CANS
A reminder to all to continue to bring deposit bottles
and cans to Troop Meetings. This is an ongoing, year round campaign.
Remember
to put your names on/in the bags (This is important so that your son can be
presented with a participation patch).
Lately, the numbers of Scouts participating
has fallen off considerably. This fundraising activity keeps
allows
us to fund our advancement awards.
Yours in
Scouting,
Chairman Ed
Scoutmaster's Minute
Time is fast approaching when our troop will be honoring
three of our scouts who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout
during this past year. The Eagle Scout Court of Honor
and Breakfast is a time when everyone in the troop should band
together to support
the efforts of these fantastic Scouts. It is important to attend.
Young Scouts should see the tribute
shown to new Eagle Scouts, not only from the troop, but
from their family, their friends, their Church, their School, and the
Community. I
encourage the entire family to attend this
wonderful
event. Scouts, keep on working on your advancements. This is the
time to complete any of those partial
Merit
Badges. Everyone should be attending the Advancement Weekend
in March to work of those requirements
that will get you
through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class. Older
Scouts are needed to help the
younger ones
advance. See you there.
Scoutmaster David Shields
Court Of Honor
This
year’s annual Awards/Court of Honor breakfast will be held on Sunday, March 14th,
2004 following 9 AM
mass
in the St. Raymond’s cafeteria.
Troop
332 is honoring 3 scouts who have advanced to the rank of Eagle.
Ticket
information will be mailed to you the middle of February and must be returned
by March 1st. Tickets are
$6.50 per person.
Registered
scouts in troop 332 are free, but must return the ticket form to receive a
ticket. This event is important for all
scouts.
Every
scout will receive an award and will be recognized.
If you have any questions, feel free to call me.
Barbara (Breakfast Chairman) 887-7277
Service
The Knight of Columbus service project to clean-up their storage room was
cancelled in December due to a snowstorm.
Since some of this work needs to be done
outside, this project will be re-scheduled once the weather turns nicer and the
ground
is not covered with snow and ice. (If that ever happens). Look for future
announcement in March or April. I will need
several
scouts and will contact those boys who volunteered in December.
The next important service project is our annual Food Drive. Grocery bags will
be handed to each scout at the March 5
meeting
and all scouts will be instructed to return them (hopefully full of food
donated by your family members and neighbors)
the
following week at the March 12 meeting. This is an important part of scouting
and is always much appreciated by the people
who receive our donation.
PLEASE
MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PARTICIPATE AND COLLECT AS MUCH FOOD AS
POSSIBLE.
Finally,
thanks to all the scouts who have participated in service projects and remember
these actions can fulfill rank advancement
or
school requirements. Any questions contact Joe Ginley.
The envelope please.............And the award goes
to...............
We would like to mention that the Hun.
Edward (nmi) Schenk, received an award on Sunday January 25 at the Elks Lodge
in Lynbrook. Hun Schenk was
recognized by the East Rockaway Village Pride Party for his dedication to the
community,
serving these past years as Co-Chairman
of the Grist Mill Museum. For the record, he was seen eating breakfast,
something he denies doing at these
events. His breakfast consisted mostly of Jelly Donuts and Spring Water,
none of which was left for the paying
guests. Oh well, we had to settle for scrambled eggs, sausages and french
toast.
Pictured is Mr. Schenk receiving his
award.
