                                                                                    Issue No. 0103-1

Chairman’s Corner

I hope everyone had a Happy Holiday and I wish everyone a healthy 2003.  I want to thank all of the adults who have volunteered their time to make the Troop's program a success. A Hearty BULLY!!! to all volunteers.

PARTICIPATION/ADVANCEMENT

I have taken note that their were few awards/advancements at the December Court of Honor/Parents Night. I urge all parents to talk to their sons about their progress, as this will help Mr. Shields and Mr. Andrzejewski when they talk to the Scouts about their progress.

Participation in Troop meetings, Campouts and activities are important part of the Boy Scout Advancement Program Requirements.  While we are mindful of the many different school and sports activities in which the boys participate, your son’s participation in the Troop's program is necessary in order for him to advance.

Leadership is an important requirement, for Scouts seeking to earn the ranks of Star, Life and Eagle.  Each Scout is required to demonstrate at the Board of Review that, to the best of his ability, he actively fulfilled this requirement.

I would also remind all Eagle Candidates that they should get their project ideas approved by the their Advisor, Troop Advancement Chairman and Scoutmaster and then the District Eagle Board Chairman as soon as possible

     EAGLE COURT OF HONOR

All of our Scout Families are reminded that we would like all of our Scouts and their families to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor scheduled for MARCH 23, 2003. The Breakfast will begin at 10 AM in St. Raymond's School Cafeteria. All Catholic Scouts are urged to attend the 9 AM Mass. ALL SCOUTS ATTENDING WILL BE RECOGNIZED WITH AN AWARD(S) ON THIS DAY. The Troop puts out a Journal for this Court of Honor and we ask that each family to help solicit advertisements for the Journal. The Troop will soon be sending out letters to each Scout Family, with further information on our Journal and Eagle Scout Court of Honor.

     TREASURE ISLAND

I am pleased to announce that the Troop will be attending TI during the week of July 6-12.  A $50 deposit, for each Scout AND Adult leader, payable to Troop 332, is due by February 14, 2003. The fee balance due is $175 per Scout. (Adults pay only the deposit). Parents may sign up as adult leaders for all or part of the week. More information will be forthcoming.

     FUNDRAISING

I want to thank all of the Scouts and Leaders who participated in the Popcorn  sales campaign> BULLY!

A reminder to all to continue to bring deposit bottles and cans to Troop Meetings. Remember to put your names on/in the bags.

     50th ANNIVERSARY PARTY

The Troop's November 9th 50th Anniversary Party was a success. Everyone had a great time. It was good to see all of the Troop's alumni in attendance. It was especially wonderful that the Troop's founding Scoutmaster, Ed Venable, was able to attend with his family.  A BULLY!!! to Diane Laukaitis and the Party Committee for a job well done.

     Thanks, Chairman Ed
