NEW SCOUT PATROL: The last meeting of
the Cobra Patrol will be on Friday evening May23rd at 7:30pm. I hope by that time
all the new Scouts will have been on at least one camping trip and have
advanced to the rank of Tenderfoot Scout. For those Scouts that are Tenderfoot,
you will need 5 outdoor activities to advance to Second Class. You can use the
Advancement Weekend, the District Camproee, the trip to Pinelawn National
Cemetery, the Memorial Day Parade and Summer Camp for those activities. If so,
you can advance to Second Class if you complete the remaining Second Class
Activities. I will be available for anyone wishing to discuss anything you or
your parents do not understand about Scouting, Advancement, Camping or Merit
Badges on any troop meeting night from 7:30 on. (Except that I will be at the
OA Weekend on May 30th)
ALUMNI NIGHT: Friday May 23rd, If you know of any scout from Troop 332, Invite him down to our meeting. Hopefully he has a few things to show you guys and maybe he can tell a few camping stories.
MEMORIAL DAY
WEEKEND activities:
PINELAWN: The troop will be going out
to Pinelawn National Cemetery on Saturday morning May 24Lh to place American
Flags on the graves of those buried there. We will leave St. Raymond's Parking
Lot at 6:00am SHARP. Full Class "A" uniform is expected. The
work is usually completed within an hour of getting there. There will be plenty
of food and beverage available after we finish and there is a patch for
everyone. This is a family activity, so bring your parents, your brothers and
sisters and your friends. We will most likely be home around 9:30am.
PARADE: Troop 332 marches in the East Rockaway Memorial Day Parade. Everyone is expected to march in full and complete Class " A " uniform. We line up on Waldo and Atlantic near the Texaco/Shell Station at 9:30am on Monday May 26th. After the parade and ceremony in Memorial Park, hot dogs and cold soda will be served to everyone who marches. (NOTE! ! If you march with the band, I will need a note from you to that fact, prior to Memorial Day.) Marching on Memorial Day is a civic duty and responsibility, to honor those who sacrificed in order for our country to be free.
