                                                                                                Issue No. 02/01-1

Chairman’s Corner

I would like to remind all of the parents of a few very important issues:

SAFETY

No Scouts are allowed to leave a meeting, campout or activity without the permission of the Scoutmaster, David Shields.  The Scouts must be picked up by a parent or someone that the Scouts' parent has authorized to pick him up and whose name has been given, by the parent, to the Scoutmaster.

ATTENDANCE

If your son will be absent from a meeting, please notify Scoutmaster David Shields.

PARTICIPATION/ADVANCEMENT

Participation in Troop meetings, Campouts and activities are important part of the Boy Scout Advancement Program Requirements.  While we are mindful of the many different school and sports activities in which the boys participate, your sons’ participation in the Troops’ program is necessary in order for him to advance.

Leadership is an important requirement, for Scouts seeking to earn the ranks of Star, Life and Eagle.  Each Scout is required to demonstrate at the Board of Review that, to the best of his ability, he actively fulfilled this requirement.

I would also remind all Eagle Candidates that they should get their project ideas approved by the their Advisor, Troop Advancement Chairman and Scoutmaster and then the District Eagle Board Chairman as soon as possible.

EAGLE COURT OF HONOR

All of our Scout Families are reminded that we would like all of our Scouts and their families to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor scheduled for April 21st.  ALL SCOUTS ATTENDING WILL BE RECOGNIZED WITH AN AWARD(S) ON THIS DAY. The Troop puts out a Journal for this Court of Honor and we ask that each family to help solicit advertisements for the Journal. The Troop will soon be sending out letters to each Scout Family, with further information on our Journal and Eagle Scout Court of Honor.

TREASURE ISLAND

I am pleased to announce that 25 Scouts and 9 leaders and parents will be attending TI during the week of July 7-13.  More information will be forthcoming.

    Thanks, Chairman Ed

Quick Notes

v     Meetings will be held every Friday at 8:00 (except when announced).  Doors to the gym open at 7:30.

v     Attention parents.  We are in need of help with numerous jobs to help keep the Troop running smoothly.  There are

many Committee Members with multiple jobs.  Please consider Ed Schenk’s request for help.

v     Make sure you give Mr. Andrzejewski all merit badge advancement cards for the badges you have completed.

You will not receive credit for the badge if he doesn’t receive the blue advancement card.  Call Mr. Andrzejewski

about any merit badge questions.  There is a new district Merit Badge Counselor list.  Please check with

Mr. Andrzejewski for the current counselor names and phone numbers.

v     Sign-up sheets for upcoming trips are on the bulletin board.  Sign-up early so we can make arrangements.

Check with your parents and sign-up only for the trips you will attend.  Remember, driving parents are always welcome.

Without them – we don’t go.

v     Our returnable bottle and can fund-raiser is always on.  Bring deposit bottles and cans that you have hanging around

to the Troop Meetings.   Remember to put your name in or on the bag so you will get credit for it.
